My next challenge was to apply the 8 Aboriginal Ways of Learning model to a unit of work for my students. This task was undertaken in order to align the 8Ways with western pedagogy.The idea was not to prefer one to the other, but to meld them together to form a harmonious union of learning pathways, that complement each other to support the learning of all students.

Hi Marion,
I loved looking at your alignment of the two pedagogies. I think it is important for Aboriginal students to understand concepts as they relate to their own background and history, which you have definitely catered for in your science unit on astronomy by having a local Aboriginal representative come and speak to the children. This would definitely engage the children in their learning and could also be highly valuable to the other students in the class as they have an opportunity to learn from a different perspective.
